Every year more than 100,000 are diagnosed with cervical cancer in sub-Saharan Africa, and about six inΒ 10 of these women are likely to die from the disease if not treated.

Low awareness and lack of affordable healthcare make sub-Saharan Africa a hotspot for cervical cancer. Women have far less access to the HPV vaccine, cervical cancer screenings and cancer treatment compared to women in developed countries.
